T minus 1.5 hours - Photos

My understanding, from the *very* quick rundown the surgeon did, is that these are the things he will be doing:
  • taking a cross-section out of my top jaw to make it shorter because right now (and as long as I can remember), it is too long for my front lip to cover it)
  • moving my top jaw back a smidge
  • moving my top jaw to the right a smidge
  • leveling my top jaw
  • moving my bottom jaw to the right a lot
  • moving my bottom jaw out a lot
  • leveling my bottom jaw
  • moving my chin to the right so it lines up with my nose

So....basically, just changing everything from the nose down. Fun, right?

T minus 15 hours

I am sitting at Dave's Aunt & Uncle's apartment with Mom, sipping a Starbucks Mocha and munching on a glazed donut. The big plans for tonight: read and eat some candy. I can't eat past midnight, so I am getting my fill this evening. I plan to have a good sleep tonight, a leisurely shower and I am expected at the hospital for 10:30am.

I will take pictures after I've finished chowing down and have cleaned my teeth up.

T Minus 8 Days

So I am anxious...duh.

My jaw surgery is scheduled for next Friday. I have lined up care for my children and care for me. I have a place for my mom to stay while we are in Halifax. I have sorted out all sorts of niggly little details. That said, I am still quite nervous about things other than the surgery itself.

Anyway, I went to my orthodontist two days ago (T minus 10 days) to have a thorough cleaning done (they take the wires off and clean around the brackets really well) and to have the hooks that will hold my post-surgery elastics put on.

Here are some photos:
